Zkria
Zkaria (Mohammed Zakaria) is a Palestinian-Jordanian conceptual artist and cultural architect whose work bridges artistic inquiry and practical social intervention. Based in Amman, his practice is driven by the desire to challenge stagnant meanings and reframe familiar ideas in ways that invite continuous questioning and reinterpretation.
Zakaria’s work spans photography, installation, text, public space, and community-focused projects. Rather than privileging any single medium, he prioritizes re-meaning — the process of intellectual and material deconstruction that underpins his creative approach. At its core, his practice positions conceptual inquiry and public engagement as equal forces, using art to question how we see, how we connect, and how culture can be repositioned.
Through this cohesive strategy, everyday elements become catalysts for new understanding and community development. Projects such as Seven Hills Skatepark and Addis Skatepark illustrate how skate culture can serve as a vehicle for youth empowerment and urban transformation. Artistically, he reframes objects, symbols, and cultural forms — from toys to language itself — to reveal unexpected layers of meaning and provoke reflection on resistance, identity, and collective narratives.
Zkaria has been one of the artists selected for the B-Murals Residencies 2026 (January–April).
Zkaria (Mohammed Zakaria) és un artista conceptual i arquitecte cultural palestí-jordà establert a Amman. La seva pràctica es fonamenta en el qüestionament dels significats establerts i en la voluntat de resignificar idees, objectes i espais per obrir-los a noves lectures.
Treballa des d’un enfocament interdisciplinari que inclou fotografia, instal·lació, text i intervenció en l’espai públic, combinant recerca conceptual amb acció comunitària. Més que centrar-se en un mitjà concret, la seva metodologia posa l’accent en el procés de desmuntatge i reconstrucció simbòlica, utilitzant l’art com a eina per reflexionar sobre identitat, resistència i transformació social.
En diversos projectes vinculats a la cultura skate i a l’activació d’espais urbans, ha explorat el potencial de l’art com a catalitzador de desenvolupament comunitari i empoderament juvenil, integrant pràctica artística i impacte social en una mateixa línia de treball.
Zkaria ha estat un dels artistes seleccionats per les Residències B-Murals 2026 (gener–abril).
