Durant juliol i agost de 2026, desenvoluparà Way Home, un projecte que parteix de la memòria de la casa, el desplaçament i la relació entre arquitectura, identitat i pèrdua.
June Lee és una artista visual que treballa principalment amb el fil, la fibra i l’escultura tèxtil per explorar la posició de l’individu dins la societat contemporània. La seva pràctica analitza la tensió entre la identitat individual i la pertinença a una comunitat, així com les responsabilitats, els vincles i les formes de relació que es generen entre les persones.
El fil, material central en el seu treball i vinculat simbòlicament a la vida i al destí, esdevé un element de connexió, dependència i continuïtat. A través de figures humanes construïdes, fragmentades o unides entre si, Lee reflexiona sobre la necessitat d’acollir l’altre i sobre la manera com les comunitats es formen a partir de cossos, històries i afectes incomplets.
El projecte que desenvoluparà a B-Murals, Way Home, redefineix el significat de “casa”. Per a l’artista, la casa no és només un espai físic o familiar, sinó també un lloc de memòria, desig, pèrdua i pertinença. La proposta parteix de cases que ja no existeixen o a les quals no es pot tornar, reconstruïdes a partir dels records de persones que les van habitar.
A través d’entrevistes amb persones que han perdut casa seva per causes alienes a la seva voluntat —com guerres, desplaçaments, transformacions urbanes o processos de desenvolupament econòmic—, June Lee crearà arquitectures basades en la memòria. Aquestes cases no seran reproduccions exactes d’espais reals, sinó construccions emocionals fetes a partir de relats, fragments i absències.
Les cases desaparegudes prendran forma dins de maletes de viatge, convertint-se en arquitectures portàtils que poden ser transportades d’un lloc a un altre. Aquest gest transforma la maleta en contenidor de memòria, refugi simbòlic i espai de resistència davant l’oblit. Allò que ja no pot existir com a lloc físic es manté viu com a relat, objecte i experiència compartida.
Durant la seva residència a B-Murals, l’artista investigarà espais històrics, arquitectures tradicionals i relats vinculats a cases i llocs de Barcelona i el seu entorn. En el context de la Nau Bostik, un antic espai industrial reconvertit en centre de creació, el projecte dialogarà amb la memòria dels edificis, les transformacions urbanes i les formes visibles i invisibles d’habitar la ciutat.
La seva proposta connecta amb B-Murals des d’una mirada expandida sobre l’art urbà: no només com a intervenció sobre l’espai públic, sinó també com a recerca sobre el territori, les arquitectures quotidianes i les històries que les ciutats conserven o esborren. A través de Way Home, June Lee plantejarà un diàleg entre casa, desplaçament, memòria i ciutat, convertint la residència en un espai de recerca artística sobre les formes d’habitar, recordar i reconstruir.

June Lee is one of the artists selected for the B-Murals Artistic Residencies 2026.
During July and August 2026, she will develop Way Home, a project that explores the memory of home, displacement, and the relationship between architecture, identity, and loss.
June Lee is a visual artist who works mainly with thread, fibre, and textile sculpture to explore the position of the individual within contemporary society. Her practice analyses the tension between individual identity and belonging to a community, as well as the responsibilities, bonds, and forms of relationship that emerge between people.
Thread, a central material in her work and symbolically linked to life and destiny, becomes an element of connection, dependence, and continuity. Through constructed, fragmented, or interconnected human figures, Lee reflects on the need to embrace the other and on how communities are formed through incomplete bodies, stories, and affections.
The project she will develop at B-Murals, Way Home, redefines the meaning of “home.” For the artist, home is not only a physical or family space, but also a place of memory, desire, loss, and belonging. The proposal takes as its starting point houses that no longer exist, or to which one can no longer return, reconstructed through the memories of the people who once inhabited them.
Through interviews with people who have lost their homes for reasons beyond their control —such as wars, displacement, urban transformations, or processes of economic development— June Lee will create architectures based on memory. These houses will not be exact reproductions of real spaces, but emotional constructions made from stories, fragments, and absences.
The disappeared houses will take shape inside travel suitcases, becoming portable architectures that can be carried from one place to another. This gesture transforms the suitcase into a container of memory, a symbolic refuge, and a space of resistance against oblivion. What can no longer exist as a physical place remains alive as a story, an object, and a shared experience.
During her residency at B-Murals, the artist will research historical spaces, traditional architectures, and stories linked to houses and places in Barcelona and its surroundings. In the context of Nau Bostik, a former industrial site converted into a creation centre, the project will engage with the memory of buildings, urban transformations, and the visible and invisible ways of inhabiting the city.
Her proposal connects with B-Murals through an expanded understanding of urban art: not only as an intervention in public space, but also as research into territory, everyday architectures, and the stories that cities preserve or erase. Through Way Home, June Lee will create a dialogue between home, displacement, memory, and the city, turning the residency into a space for artistic research on ways of inhabiting, remembering, and reconstructing.
